The research in optics and photonics in Singapore: current status, strategy and prospects. This document is a snapshot of the state of science and technology in optics and photonics in Singapore and an analysis of strengths and weaknesses of the research in this field. It contributes not only to describe the actors in the field, laboratories, research institutes and agencies, but also provide ideas on opportunities for collaboration with our country and the research carried out locally. .
The report is based on visits, meetings and discussions with the Singaporean players in the framework of a specific collaboration launched in September 2004 at the initiative of the Embassy of France in Singapore. The Franco-Singaporean project, which are derived, have also led to some lessons about priorities and Singapore’s expertise in this area.
The first part of this document presents the major scientific bodies in Singapore and their role in research in optics. The second part deals with laboratories and program-frame optical Singapore. A balance of forces can identify opportunities for France. The third part reports on the companies operating in Singapore and involved or having links with research in optoelectronics, including the French companies.
